Leadership for Quality is a process that provides education, coaching and recognition in order to extend the leadership capacity of your Top Management Team (TMT). Your TMT, or executive team, are those senior managers who are responsible for strategic decisions about your organisation’s purpose, values, goals and culture.

This process is facilitated by RTO-Excel, an organisation that is dedicated to the enhancement of leadership and management in the Asia-Pacific region.

Leadership for Quality recognition is guided by international research and experience in executive leadership gained by RTO-Excel. We understand the need for effective leadership and management, particularly in the areas of strategy and planning, communication, innovation, quality management and governance.

Achieving recognition means your TMT is committed to the highest standards of executive leadership. The recognition process is undertaken as a collaborative partnership between your organisation and RTO-Excel.

You may already have an established TMT and are seeking verification of its achievements…or perhaps you are in the process of building your team and need some assistance. Whatever your situation…RTO-Excel can assist you.

Participation in the recognition process, however, requires considerable commitment by the TMT. Leadership for Quality recognition is dependent upon this commitment. RTO-Excel will only work with organizations who involve all TMT members for the duration of the program.

Leadership capacity will be assessed against RTO-Excel leadership criteria. Training and coaching support is provided to assist your team to meet these criteria as required.

RTO-Excel works with your TMT directly for a period of up to eight (8) weeks in order to enhance leadership capacity in preparation for recognition. On successful completion of the program your TMT will receive Leadership for Quality recognition. This includes a Certificate of Recognition for the team, your achievement being placed on the RTO-Excel website and the use of the Leadership for Quality logo if desired.

Your team will, depending on your requirements, experience a number of learning strategies and development activities - skillful dialogue, workshops, individual coaching, team building, interviews, group forums, presentations, shadowing, surveys and reflection.

Your participation will:

  • develop each team member’s personal competencies - attitudes, skills and knowledge appropriate to their current or anticipated leadership role
  • strengthen your team - by enhancing interdependency and synergy
  • build a culture of continuous improvement - through the refining of your organisational processes.

During the recognition process RTO Excel uses five Phases of Leadership for Quality that are linked to, and supported by, international research.

The Review Phase is the initial phase of Leadership for Quality. It is an assessment of the importance and existence of leadership attributes within your Top Management Team. The review will identify:

  • the current strengths of your TMT
  • the culture of your organisation
  • your key achievements
  • further individual, team, and organisational development

The outcome of this assessment provides the focus for the Leadership for Quality phases to follow.

The Analysis phase considers the information generated from the Review Phase and develops a profile of your TMT against the criteria.

The Decision phase considers all evidence from the analysis in order to negotiate a plan for the further development of your team.

The Action phase is the implementation of the plan. The Action phase will be supported by Coaching sessions for each participating manager to further develop their capacity to:

  • think and plan strategically
  • communicate effectively
  • promote innovation and change
  • influence other positively
  • act desisively and responsibly

This phase may also be supported by training to extend team members' knowledge about:

  • leading organisational learning
  • leading strategy and planning
  • leading teams
  • leading service quality
  • leading quality systems development

The recognition phase will:

  • consolidate, recognise and celebrate your team's achievements
  • showcase your organisation as being committed to quality
